how could one say this is depth dose curve, this could be depth ionization curve too right? what role does the OSL play in the depiction, could someone explain?
Good question! But look the OSL curve which follows IC curve (To some extent due to the inherited built up in the OSL). For OSLD; the difference between measured PDI and PDD in electron beams is negligible for most routine clinical applications; for megavoltage electron beams, OSLD response is nearly independent of energy. This is because the ratio of stopping power between water and the OSLD material remains relatively constant as the electron beam slows down with depth, the raw reading effectively represents dose. So, OSLD measurements do not typically require these depth-dependent conversion factors to yield a PDD curve.
