Responsibilities
- Perform regulatory, image-quality, and patient-dose testing of diagnostic imaging equipment, with emphasis on advanced modalities such as mammography, CT, MRI, and nuclear imaging.
- Develop radiation shielding designs and evaluate shielding performance for new and replacement imaging facilities and equipment.
- Develop and oversee quality-control programs covering image quality, imaging protocols, repeat analysis, and patient-dose metrics.
- Support radiation safety and MR safety programs, including policies, training, inspections, radiation oncology compliance activities, and emergency response.
- Evaluate new imaging modalities and establish appropriate testing and quality-control requirements.
- Provide technical support to physicians, technologists, Radiation Safety leadership, and other radiation physics staff.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Radiological Physics, Medical Physics, Health Physics, or a related scientific field.
- At least three years of experience involving diagnostic imaging testing and quality control, regulatory compliance, licensing or inspection activities, and advanced radiation-physics dosimetry, shielding, and analytical work.
- Candidates may be board eligible at hire. An accepted professional certification must be obtained within five years of hire or transfer.
- Ten years of related diagnostic imaging, regulatory, licensing, or inspection experience is preferred.
