PIH Health Whittier Hospital is seeking a per-diem Medical Physicist in Whittier, California. The role supports therapeutic radiation oncology physics and radiation safety under the supervision of the Chief Medical Physicist. Responsibilities
- Support treatment planning design, optimization, technical evaluation, and accurate delivery of radiation therapy.
- Perform calibration and quality assurance for treatment equipment, patient-monitoring systems, and physics QA devices.
- Provide technical direction to dosimetrists, radiation therapists, equipment service engineers, and other support staff.
- Support radiation safety and compliance involving machine-generated radiation and radioactive materials.
- Work with advanced techniques including IMRT, IGRT, SRS, SBRT, VMAT, and HDR brachytherapy.
- Contribute to accreditation preparation and radiation oncology quality-assurance programs.
Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in therapy-equipment calibration, treatment planning, and clinical physics responsibilities is required.
- Candidates may be ABR- or ABMP-certified in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics, or may be board eligible after completing a CAMPEP-approved residency.
- Board-eligible physicists must obtain ABR certification within three years of hire to remain employed.
- California authorization as a Therapeutic Calibration Physicist must be obtained within three years of hire.
- A doctoral degree in medical radiation physics, or a master’s degree from a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics program with CAMPEP residency training, is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
