Description
Yale New Haven Health is seeking a full-time Medical Physicist Diagnostic Radiology II in New Haven, Connecticut. The position is 100% onsite, 40 hours per week, with day/evening scheduling. The role provides comprehensive diagnostic medical physics support across medical imaging services, with responsibility for quality assurance, image optimization, radiation dose management, accreditation, regulatory compliance, and implementation of new imaging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee diagnostic imaging quality-assurance programs and annual testing of diagnostic X-ray equipment.
- Perform or supervise acceptance testing of newly installed imaging equipment and support evaluation of new imaging modalities.
- Develop and review imaging protocols to optimize clinical image quality while minimizing patient radiation dose.
- Perform clinical and research dosimetry, including fetal-dose estimates and radiation-dose calculations.
- Design and evaluate shielding for diagnostic imaging facilities and verify compliance with applicable requirements.
- Support staff and resident education in imaging physics, radiation safety, image optimization, and appropriate equipment use.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Medical Physics or a related specialty.
- Board certification in Diagnostic Radiologic Physics through the American Board of Radiology, or Diagnostic Imaging Physics through the American Board of Medical Physics.
- The employer states that candidates should have more than seven years of recent, continuous, full-time clinical diagnostic imaging physics experience.
- Strong knowledge of medical imaging physics, dosimetry, radiation safety, imaging protocols, DICOM, data management, and picture-archiving systems is expected.
- The role may require travel among Yale New Haven Health sites and delivery networks.
